Finally sucked it up and submitted my entry to Project Rooftop’s Fantastic Four redesign contest!  I love superhero teams, especially ones who spend a lot of their time sciencing, so this was fun.
I decided to go with a midcentury-inspired/sci-fi look for their uniforms- not the most drastic change, of course, but I wanted something sleek that played around with the 4 iconography a bit more than usual.  I Also took the bodysuit-as-wearable-computer concept a bit more literally with the optional retinal HUD, and made Ben a bit of a beefcake.  Because why the hell not

Alessandro Barbucci

One of my ultimate favorite artists ever

YUP YES SECONDED

I actually owe my coworkers at Neopets for introducing me to Skydoll, which I then bought the entirety of the next time I was in France.  The art is just…  Everything I want to be.

ohhhkay. getting through images slowly but surely (HOL, you’re next!)

the scott pilgrim group was overshadowed by our DC excitement, but it was a lot of fun. it was my first time within a larger group and i did enjoy all the photo opportunities we got to take within it (though I didn’t show them all here, because tumblr has a photo limit, sigh).

there are a few adjustments i’d like to make to ramona’s costume before i wear it next (starting with wearing more makeup and ending with making those shorts fit better), but for the most part, it was a good time… except for that damned wig!

Full group shot here. Claire has some more Kim shots on her blog here.

YAY our full group we are awesome

Flight 8 is out today, and my amazingly talented, amazingly good friend Nicholas Kole has a story in the final volume.  His art is heart-stoppingly beautiful, and you’re doing yourself a disservice if you don’t pick up the book or, at the least, check out his blog.

I’m honestly a little devastated that I’ve wasted my open invitation into Flight over the past four years-the stars, and my free time, just never aligned properly- but I’m happy to suck it up and live vicariously through Nick and all the other amazing artists this time around.
